Why doesn’t Hollywood preserve its history?

The historic Pickford Building, built in 1927, is set to be destroyed.  Once a film studio lot, everyone from Charlie Chaplin to Marilyn Monroe shot movies there.  Now owned by a real estate investment firm, the lot is to be turned into a 6-story “fancy” building.  Read more below:

It’s always sad to read about a piece of history being destroyed.

  1. To quote the last line of the article “What would Chaplin Say?”…I think Charlie would just kick up the backside of who ever is in charge of this whole project. Hollywood today doesn’t even resemble the area it once was back when Hollywood was put on the map from crying out loud…and to destroy this building is so wrong. I feel that all the work the early film pioneers put into their craft…the movies….is forever being banished. I can see a tear falling down the tramp’s cheek as we speak. That is all that needs to be said. Charlie didn’t need words! Shame on you Hollywood, for taking away a historical building.
